Major Pi Network Warning Concerning all Users: Details

TL;DR

  • Pi Network reminded its community to stay vigilant by relying solely on official communication channels to ensure maximum protection.
  • Despite millions completing KYC procedures, some users remain stuck in the process. Pi Network urged them to take additional liveness checks and sign token acknowledgments to avoid delays in migrating to the long-awaited open mainnet.

Stay Safe, Pi Network Users

The controversial cryptocurrency project – Pi Network – took it to X to advise users to refer only to the official Pi Safety Center for communication channels and official links to Pi applications and products to safeguard their accounts and wallets.

Some of those commenting on the post thanked the developers for the guidance, describing it as a “necessary reminder” that can be vital for the community’s protection.

Many others, though, expected a completely different announcement involving the potential launch of the open mainnet or the native token. Recall that Pi Network has been around for almost six years, but it has yet to introduce those developments (which has expectedly sparked huge frustration among its user base).

Not long ago, the team assured that the launch of the Open Network would occur once 15 million people pass necessary Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verifications and migrate to the mainnet. The deadline (known as the Grace Period) was moved several times and was lately set for January 31, 2025.

At the beginning of the month, Pi Network maintained that it had been making “excellent progress,” with more than 9 million successful migrations. Prior to that, the developers claimed that 14 million users had completed the verification process.

We have yet to see whether the project will reach those major milestones before the end of the ongoing month or whether the team will introduce another deadline extension.

Advice for Users in Need

Despite the gradual increase in the number of people who have completed the KYC procedures, some users remain in the queue due to experiencing certain issues. On that note, Pi Network recently claimed that the long wait for full KYC results and migrations “may be caused by your need to complete actions.” The team stated that some Pioneers must pass additional liveness checks to “make sure the video is clear with good lighting.”

“When prompted in the mining app for such additional liveness checks, please take the liveness checks and do not close the popup. Sign the token acknowledgment even if you are still waiting for your KYC results, as it is required for anyone to migrate to Mainnet anyway,” the guidance reads.

The developers also urged struggling users to “either spend Pi to update their name or appeal to resubmit their KYC application.”
