Comparisons of Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT continue to flood internet social spaces, so we decided to put them to the test with questions of our own.

On Dec. 6, Google launched its latest artificial intelligence (AI) model, Gemini, which it claimed is the most advanced model currently available on the market — even better than the popular model developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT-4.
This bold claim was treated like a challenge by community sleuths across the internet, who swiftly moved to examine the methods and benchmarks used by Google to assert Gemini’s supposed superiority and poke fun at the company’s marketing of the product.
David Gull, CEO of AI-powered wellness startup Vital, told Cointelegraph that each model, be it GPT-4, LLaMa, or now Gemini, has its own set of strengths and challenges.
“When navigating the AI startup world, choosing the right language model is key to the success of your product. With Google’s introduction of the Gemini AI model, our LLM options have expanded significantly.”
Currently, OpenAI’s GPT-4 model stands out with its “extensive real-world application,” along with enhanced safety measures, he added.
Gull said as businesses now “dive into” Gemini, a good goal would be to “strike a balance between performance and customization” that aligns with the company’s mission and values and provides the best user experience.
We decided to put these two models to the test ourselves and ask both Gemini (via Bard) and GPT-4 (via ChatGPT) the same questions and compare the answers. In both instances, the free, publicly available version was used to generate results.
Question #1: What are cryptocurrencies?
The first question we asked the two systems was quite simply, “What are cryptocurrencies?”
Both gave similar primary definitions as answers describing cryptocurrencies as digital currencies that often work in a decentralized nature and are distributed via blockchains. Additionally, both listed key features of cryptocurrencies and gave some examples, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Cardano (ADA).
Where they differed however was in the additional information offered afterward. In addition, Gemini/Bard offered advice on investing in cryptocurrencies, as well as a link to a source.
ChatGPT, on the other hand, concluded with a small history of the creation of Bitcoin by Satoshi Nakamoto and the subsequent emergence of altcoins.
Question #2: Is Bitcoin a good investment?
We also asked both models to give us some investment advice, selecting the industry’s tried and tested Bitcoin (BTC) as our cryptocurrency of choice. We asked: “Is Bitcoin a good investment?”
Gemini/Bard began by simply stating that the question is “complex,” whereas ChatGPT answered with a disclaimer, saying that it doesn’t “have the ability to provide real-time financial advice.”
Both systems provided fleshed-out answers to the questions, with ChatGPT providing clearer factors to consider during the investment process. Both also concluded with the recommendation to seek a professional financial adviser for more “personalized advice.”

Question #3: Who is Satoshi Nakamoto
For the last question, we asked both AI models one of the crypto industry’s most mysterious riddles: “Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?”
In this case, both models gave detailed answers, each spanning 4-6 whole text blocks of information. Gemini/Bard and ChatGPT started their replies with a snippet about Satoshi being a “pseudonymous person or group of people who created Bitcoin.”
ChatGPT was more vague in its description of the mystery around Satoshi’s identity, saying that there have been many conspiracy theories and claims about his identity. However, it didn’t mention any specifics.
On the other hand, Gemini/Bard offered three detailed examples of individuals who have tried to claim the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto.
Both models emphasized the “mystery” of the Satoshi story, with ChatGPT pronouncing it “one of the most significant unsolved mysteries in the world of cryptocurrencies.”
