Fetch.ai, a crypto artificial intelligence company built on Cosmos, announced the opening of its Innovation Lab in partnership with Imperial College London’s I-X Hub at the White City Campus.

The lab is set to become a major research center for AI, machine learning and autonomous systems and will extend Fetch.ai’s existing collaboration with the college to drive AI technology.

In an interview with Cointelegraph, Sana Wajid, chief development officer at Fetch.ai Innovation Labs, said that the collaboration will help push “the boundaries of autonomous systems and machine learning.”

“[The collaboration] will provide a space for high-caliber researchers and students to work on real-world AI applications leveraging the Fetch.ai tech stack [and] create a vibrant ecosystem that nurtures talent, empowers startups, and enables the development of cutting-edge solutions to global challenges.”

Innovation Lab details

The Innovation Lab is set to establish collaborative efforts among academia, government and industry and to become a space for creating new ideas that can be translated into practical applications.

Wajid said that Fetch.ai’s tech stack is “industry agnostic” and could attract developers and students from “manufacturing, mobility, travel and more.”

“These industries can leverage Fetch.ai’s agent-based technology to create AI-driven solutions that optimize processes, enhance efficiency, and solve complex problems.”

$10 million startup and AI project fund

Alongside the newly created Innovation Lab, Fetch.ai has announced a $10 million funding allocation for startups and AI-driven projects to support early-stage companies in scaling their ideas.

Wajid said that this fund can help accelerate “AI startups by providing financial resources and support.”

“This funding helps early-stage companies transform into AI-driven industry leaders by enabling them to advance their research, develop innovative products, and bring AI-powered solutions to market faster.”

Despite a general decline in venture capital funding across multiple industries, AI startups have seen an increase in liquidity injections, raising $11.8 billion in the third quarter.

Ethical considerations

With the promise of AI tech advancement comes potential scalability and ethical concerns, which Wajid acknowledged as potential obstacles to overcome.

“Some potential obstacles for integrating autonomous agents include technical challenges in scaling AI systems for diverse applications, ensuring data privacy and security, and achieving seamless collaboration between human and autonomous agents.”

Wajid added that “other obstacles” involving “regulatory and ethical considerations” surrounding the adoption of AI in other industries could also arise.
