Avalanche introduces Visa crypto card for seamless global spending

The Avalanche Foundation, in partnership with Rain, has launched the Avalanche Card.

The card is a physical and digital payment card that allows users to spend cryptocurrency anywhere Visa is accepted, according to a release shared with crypto.news.

The Avalanche Card supports USD Coin (USDC), Tether (USDT), Wrapped AVAX, and AVAX (AVAX), aiming to simplify cryptocurrency payments for everyday purchases. The new offering removes the need for complex conversions by enabling direct spending, making it a practical alternative for users in regions with limited banking infrastructure.

According to John Wu, President of Ava Labs, the initiative is about making cryptocurrency “as familiar as swiping a credit card.”

Visa and crypto

Last November, Crypto.com launched its Visa payment card program in Latin America, expanding its cryptocurrency-linked rewards card to the region.

The card allows users to preload funds using cryptocurrency wallets or fiat currency through the Crypto.com app. It offers rewards across seven tiers, including up to 8% cash back, service rebates, and airport lounge access.

Similarly, by using the Visa network, the Avalanche Card provides a secure and accessible payment option, reinforcing Avalanche’s broader commitment to decentralized finance accessibility.

With an initial rollout in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, the Avalanche Card is positioned to drive mainstream adoption of digital assets.
