Aethir, a leader in decentralized GPU cloud computing, has joined forces with Filecoin, the leading decentralized storage network, to provide enhanced computational power and storage capabilities to the web2 and web3 ecosystems, as announced by Aethir today.

The partnership aims to address the growing demand for reliable and scalable compute and storage solutions, particularly within the artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and web3 ecosystems.

It also targets lowering the barrier for new entrants to Filecoin as users can now access Aethir’s network of over 43,000 GPUs, including 3,000+ NVIDIA H100s. Traditional approaches often limit access to expensive compute hardware due to high costs and technical complexities.

“As the demand for decentralized infrastructure grows, Aethir’s collaboration with Filecoin Foundation represents a significant step towards creating a more robust and efficient DePIN ecosystem,” Mark Rydon, CSO and Co-founder at Aethir, said.

“Our GPU leasing model provides Filecoin storage providers with scalable compute solutions, directly addressing the ongoing GPU scarcity challenges faced by the AI, machine learning, and Web3 sectors,” Rydon added.

Aethir said its GPU leasing capabilities will provide Filecoin storage providers with the necessary computational power to process and analyze data stored on the network. This will not only improve the overall efficiency of Filecoin but also open up new opportunities for developers and enterprises to leverage the platform for various applications.

Aethir offers a two-pronged approach: enterprise cloud GPU services and the Aethir Edge device, making top-tier computing power accessible to businesses and individuals, the company said.

Apart from providing advanced GPU leasing capabilities on the Filecoin network, Aethir has also integrated with Lighthouse, a Filecoin-based platform offering perpetual storage, encryption, and custom gateways. The company plans to upload AI and node-focused data to Filecoin via Lighthouse, ensuring transparency and accountability.

For future plans, Aethir said it looks to utilize Filecoin’s decentralized storage for archiving critical data sets, such as AI models and chain state data. The company believes this will ensure data security, transparency, and accountability, while also contributing to the development of a more decentralized and resilient digital infrastructure.

“Decentralized infrastructure can help ensure that the power of AI is in the hands of everyone, not just a few corporations,” Marta Belcher, Filecoin Foundation’s President, stated.
